Mushroom Walks
Fungi are mysterious and fascinating! Some are good to eat, some are poison. They all have vital roles in the ecosystem. Learn the fundamentals of fungi with someone who has been leading fungi field walks for over two decades and recently passed a state approved mushroom foraging, toxicology, and identification course. It’s impossible to guarantee that we will find edible mushrooms, but we will definitely find fungi to learn about. Be aware that most public parks have restrictions against removing any living thing from the park, including mushrooms.
“Year after year we hear from students who tell us they didn’t have much interest in mycology before…However, after spending time with you in the virtual classroom and/or in the field they want to learn more about mushrooms”
- Scott Santino, Education Program Manager, Mass Audubon
