I went from being a child of swampy woods and Atlantic tide pools, to an art student in the big city, and then to an adult that finds and enjoys nature wherever I happen to be. Along the way I edited and published the college comic book, organized art events, and spent some time as a performance artist.

I yearned for connection to nature:  I volunteered with every animal facility I could, and learned about the particulars of nature from teacher naturalists at a wildlife sanctuary. I learned about fungi and mushrooms, and quickly began leading fungi field walks.

I became a zookeeper, and then a zoo pest management specialist. I became the unofficial naturalist for a zoo, leading biodiversity walks in our large city park. For over 23 years I’ve organized nature walks in and around Boston with other nature lovers and specialists. My greatest joy is helping others learn about and appreciate the nature that is all around them.
